Another silver coin from the series inspired by the Lord of the Rings film trilogy commemorating the warrior Aragorn.
The northwest of Middle-earth is a peaceful and tranquil place thanks to the frontiersmen. These rugged men roam the land, protecting it from all sorts of dangers that could threaten, say, the Shire or the Mountain. Borderers avoid towns and villages, live in harmony with nature, are great trackers, experts in herbs and masters of ambush warfare. Their leader is a mysterious man known as the Walker. Only a select few suspect that the scruffy and taciturn rogue is in fact Aragorn - the rightful heir to the legendary rulers Isildur and Elendil of the Númenorian royal dynasty. Despite his noble origins, Aragorn is a humble and devoted servant of his country and its people. When the wizard Gandalf asked him to become the guide of an inexperienced hobbit who had acquired a magic ring, he did not hesitate for a second. He pledged to protect his life, and together they decided the fate of all Middle-earth…
The reverse side of the coin is dominated by a coloured depiction of Aragorn preparing for battle with the Black Riders. In the surrounding relief you will find the ruins of the fortress on the top of Větrov. The obverse side then presents the portrait and name of the monarch Elizabeth II, the year of issue 2021 and the nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) - i.e. the attributes of the issuer of the coin, which is the island of Niue. The coin was minted with official film licence by the team at the New Zealand Mint.
An integral part of the issue is an elegant wooden case with a special mechanism used to display the coin.
