Silver coin Above the Clouds is a commemorative coin, which has been designed by an Emirati artist Ali Al Ali. It represents a first collaboration of Czech Mint with a talent local to the UAE. Designed for all aviators and travel enthusiasts, the coin is an embodiment of the idea that by overcoming obstacles one can reach a wonderful achievement.
"The 'Above the Clouds' coin is designed to be a symbol of aspiration and achievement. In aviation, climbing above the clouds often signifies transcending immediate challenges to reach a smoother ride. This coin aims to encapsulate that very essence—of rising above difficulties and aiming for higher goals. It serves as a reminder that no matter the turbulence we face, whether in aviation or life, there is always a clearer, smoother ride ahead of us," says Ali Al Ali.
The reverse side of the coin depicts a realistic pair of wings, together with a turbine and a view over the clouds. Because the legal tender coins of Czech Mint are issued with the licence of a foreign issuer, which is the island of Niue, their obverse side bears its necessary attributes - the nominal value of 2 DOLLAR (NZD), the year of issue 2023 and the national emblem, which is floating on a cushion of clouds.
