Product description

Czech circulation coins are among the best in the world. Did you know, for example, that the fifty-crown coin was declared the most beautiful circulation coin in the world in 1993? We certainly have something to be proud of, which is why it is a shame that people increasingly prefer cashless payments. One day, our children will surely be interested in what their mom and dad used to pay with, and the Czech Mint, in cooperation with the Czech National Bank, regularly issues sets of circulation coins with the motif of the birth of a child for this purpose. The year 2026 is no exception.

Times are changing – that is an eternal and unchanging truth. Perhaps never in human history have they changed as quickly as they are today. What is common now may be just a memory in a few years. Paying for purchases in cash is slowly becoming a rarity. Cash has been replaced by payment cards, but even those are gradually falling into oblivion as they are replaced by smartphones, watches, and even rings... Currency is disappearing from our wallets, which is why one day circulating coins may have unexpected value – perhaps not financial, but certainly memorial. When our children grow up and pick up a five-crown coin, for example, they will go back in time and wonder how it was like when they were born. What could their parents buy with small coins back then? What was depicted on them and why? What was it like to put money in a piggy bank? Did people value money more when they could actually hold it in their hands?

The thematic set of coins in circulation contains all valid metal coins with the year 2026 stamped on them, which were produced by the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou and issued by the Czech National Bank. The six coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 CZK, which have not been in circulation, are supplemented with a commemorative token designed by medal maker Veronika Prokopová, DiS. The relief on the token depicts a stork carrying a bundle with a baby in its beak and a flying stroller suspended by balloons.

The set is an original gift for anyone who has a newborn baby at home – not just for numismatists. The complete set comes in gift packaging, where you can write a dedication together with the baby's birth details.
