"I thought it was fun. Queens or presidents usually appear on the coin," described Martina Navratilová her feelings when she found out that she would appear on the gold commemorative coins from the cycle "Czech tennis legends" of the Czech Mint.

Martina Navrátilová was born on October, 18 1956 in Prague and became the Champion of Czechoslovakia in singles already in 1972. She represented Czechoslovakia at Federation Cup in 1975 and our country won the trophy for the first time. She played two big finals in singles on the Australian Open and Roland Garros as a nineteen-years-old. During the US Open 1975 she stayed in the USA and in 1978 she became the world's first WTA player after her first but not last Wimbledon victory. She won in total 9 Wimbledons in singles in 1978-79, 82-87 and 90. She earned titles on other GS tournaments and also in the Fed Cup, becoming the world's greatest tennis legend of all time.

The art form of the sports coin was made by an experienced portrait maker MgA. Martin Dašek. The reverse side presents a winning tennis player holding the Wimbledon trophy. It is surrounded by the English inscription "CZECH TENNIS LEGEND MARTINA NAVRATILOVA" together with the chain of phenomenal tennis triumphs. Since the Czech Mint coin is licensed by a foreign issuer, which is the state of Samoa, the obverse side bears its necessary attributes, which are the national emblem, the name and portrait of the emperor Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (WST) together with the year of the issue 2018. The composition is complemented by inscription "WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONS".
