The gold mini coin of the Czech Mint from the Slovak branch of the Patrons series is dedicated to Saint Hubert.

Hubert, a French nobleman, had a good heart and a noble nature, but after his wife died giving birth to a son, he sought solace in debauchery and his favourite pastime, which was hunting. He ceased to care for his subjects, whose fields were crushed by the hoofs of hunting parties. He even took part in the feast on Good Friday, when hunting was forbidden. Then he saw a majestic deer, which he pursued into the deep dark woods. His prey was lost and Hubert found he was all alone. Tired, he dismounted his horse to rest, and suddenly the deer returned. The Christian cross shone between his antlers, and he spoke in human language, "Why do you keep looking for and hunting game? It's time to start looking for God!" Under the influence of this experience, Hubert decided to dedicate his life to faith and became a saint. Since then, Saint Hubert has been a symbol of hunting honour, humility and honesty for all hunters. He is also the patron saint of butchers and furriers. People invoke him as a protector against dog bites and snake bites or the fear of water.

The medal maker David Kružliak has placed a portrait of Saint Hubert with a hunting hat and a quiver full of arrows on the reverse side of the coin. The relief cannot miss the deer antlers, between which the Christian cross shines. The Slovak-English inscription states SVÄTÝ – SAINT – HUBERT. The obverse side then presents the profile and name of the monarch Elizabeth II, the year of issue 2021 and the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD) - or the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign licence to mint its own commemorative coins.

The gold coin weighing one half gram is set in a special Slovak-English packaging. It will serve as an affordable gift as well as an original addition to your collection and will become a good luck charm.
