Gold 2 ducat CR 2026 - Charles IV hunter and explorer stand

The Czech Mint's traditional Ducat series pays tribute to Charles IV in 2026. The father of the Homeland is depicted in relief on the gold double-ducat as a lover of hunting.
Charles IV improved Prague, but he did not neglect the rest of the kingdom. He founded royal towns and castles throughout the country. He attached no less importance to churches and monasteries, which were centers of religion and culture. His spas also became famous and which, according to legend, were partly established by the king's dog. During Charles's favorite pastime – hunting deer in the forests near Loket Castle – the dog fell into a pool from which boiling water gushed. The monarch summoned his doctors to the site and soon concluded that the spring had healing properties. When he tasted the water, the pain in his leg that had been troubling him disappeared instantly. This is how Karlovy Vary were founded.
Medal maker MgA.Petra Čánská dedicated the obverse side of the two-ducat coin to an idealized depiction of Charles IV on horseback, accompanied by his dog, visiting the hot spring fountain in the Karlovy Vary forest. The monarch, wearing the St. Wenceslas Crown, also dominates the reverse side, where he is accompanied by the imperial monogram, the two-tailed Czech lion, the two-headed imperial eagle and the inscription 2 DUKÁT. Both sides also feature rich Gothic decoration.
The gold coin weighing two ducats is issued in a limited edition of only 100 pieces and respects the specifications set by the legendary St. Wenceslas ducats.
