The twelve-piece collector´s series of silver coins "The Legends of Czech Hockey" was dedicated to two great generations of our ice sport. These are the Nagano Olympians from 1998 alongside their most famous predecessors from 1960s and 1970s.
For that reason Ivan Hlinka, who united both famous stages, opened it. He first became one of the best hockey centers of Czechoslovak history and later gained immortality as a coach who led the national team to win gold at the Nagano Olympics. (This is why the specification of its silver coins differs from other issues in the series.) Furthermore, the following stars appear on the coins of the Czech Mint:
- Dominik Hašek - goalkeeper, Olympic winner and medalist, double winner of Stanley Cup
- Pavel Patera - forward, Olympic winner, quadruple world champion
- David Moravec – centre forward, Olympic winner, double world champion
- Vladimír Růžička – centre forward, Olympic winner and medalist, triple world champion
- Vladimír Martinec - right wing, double Olympic medalist, triple world champion
- František Pospíšil - defender, triple Olympic medalist, triple world champion
- Jan Suchý - defender, Olympic medalist
- Milan Nový – centre forward, Olympic medalist, double world champion
- Jaroslav Pouzar - left wing, Olympic medalist, double world champion, triple Stanley Cup winner
(We have other two legendary hockey names as a surprise.)
